Ismail Rahoo to be pro-chancellor of all govt universities
In Sindh, Minister for Universities and Boards Ismail Rahoo has been appointed as pro-chancellor of the universities of the province, and a formal notification was issued on Tuesday.
The position of pro-chancellor has been withdrawn from Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah, Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro, Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar and Health Minister Azra Fazal Pechuho.
According to the notification, Ismail Rahoo will be the pro-chancellor of all government universities in the province. Earlier, on August 3 this year, the chief minister had appointed three ministers from his cabinet as the pro-chancellors of the province’s universities. Education Minister Sardar Shah was appointed as the pro-chancellor of general universities, Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro as pro-chancellor of engineering universities, and Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar as pro-chancellor of the Law University, while Azra Fazal Pechuho was already the pro-chancellor of medical universities.
Ismail Rahoo will not be the pro-chancellor of the Metropolitan University Karachi because, according to the Metropolitan University Karachi Act, the pro-chancellor of the university is the mayor of Karachi.
