LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif met Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan on Thursday to review political and administrative affairs of the province.
Legislative matters and functioning of the Punjab Assembly were also discussed in detail. Both leaders agreed to take stern action against elements attempting to disrupt the law and order in the province.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif appreciated the speaker for effectively managing assembly affairs and fostering a collaborative working relationship between the government and parliamentary representatives.
She said, “For the first time in Punjab’s history, every major development project is being launched from smaller cities instead of major urban centres.” She said that Punjab offers immense business opportunities and urged investors to fully capitalise on them.
The chief minister reiterated her government’s commitment to facilitating both domestic and foreign investors, emphasizing that the law and order is under control and that no one will be allowed to create unrest in the province.
Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan thanked the chief minister for introducing the e-Biz initiative to improve the ease of doing business in Punjab. He also conveyed public appreciation for visible improvements in the province’s law and order situation.
He said that for the first time development projects are not limited to Lahore or other major cities; instead, previously underdeveloped regions of Punjab are now a top priority for the government.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif paid tribute to the security forces for eliminating seven terrorists in Kurram. She lauded the bravery and sacrifice of Captain Nauman and six other soldiers who embraced martyrdom while fighting Khawarij terrorists. She extended her heartfelt condolences to the families of martyrs.
