ISLAMABAD: The constitutional bench Thursday referred the Mahrang Baloch detention case to the Practice and Procedure Committee. A five-member bench, headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan, referred the case to the committee.
Faisal Siddiqui Advocate appeared on behalf of Baloch and others, pleading that the case be heard by a regular bench and not the constitutional bench.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, however, told the counsel that it was a matter to be heard by a constitutional bench, as he had challenged the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
Siddiqui replied that they had not sought interpretation of the law but challenged the order of MPO. Later, the court referred the matter to the Practice and Procedure Committee.
