8 injured as bomb targets Kech DC’s convoy in Turbat
QUETTA: At least eight people, including seven Levies personnel, were injured in a remote-control bomb attack targeting the vehicle of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kech in Turbat on Monday. The DC remained unharmed.
According to DSP Turbat Police Nazir Ahmed, unknown assailants detonated an explosive device planted along Thana Road in the district headquarters of Turbat, targeting the vehicle of DC Kech, Major (R) Bashir Ahmed Barech. The blast injured seven Levies personnel from the DC’s security squad and one civilian. The injured were immediately shifted to the Government Teaching Hospital Turbat for medical treatment. The DC remained safe as his vehicle was bulletproof, although it sustained severe damage. The explosion also damaged five nearby vehicles and several adjacent buildings. DSP Nazir added that the attack occurred as the Deputy Commissioner was traveling from his residence to his office, and that approximately 15 kilograms of explosive material was used in the blast.
Following the incident, police cordoned off the area.
