ISLAMABAD: PTI’s ousted firebrand legislator Sher Afzal Marwat Friday, claimed a “deal” had been agreed upon between the government, the establishment and PTI founder chairman Imran Khan on November 25, 2024.
“Negotiations started on November 3; there was a four-member committee, including Ali Amin Gandapur, Barrister Gohar, Mohsin Naqvi and Rana Sanaullah. Later, at one point, I also joined,” he recalled during a private TV show.
He recalled that some things were agreed upon between the government, the establishment and PTI, including the release of Imran Khan.
The interior minister gave his plane to Barrister Gohar and Barrister Saif; they got stuck so that matters could be explained further.
On November 25, Marwat noted Barrister Gohar Ali Khan was sent to jail, where Imran Khan was to record a video. In the video, Imran Khan had to ask his workers to stay at Sangjani until his release.
Everything was settled until a discussion was held with the party supremo about whether the video should be made from outside the prison bars or inside his prison.
When Barrister Gohar was asked for a mobile phone to make a video, he said he did not bring the mobile phone to the jail, as it is not allowed; at this, a jail official offered his own mobile phone for making a video on it.
However, Marwat stated Imran Khan said he doubted he might tamper with his video. (Then) It was decided that Barrister Gohar would bring the mobile phone in the morning and the message would be recorded. And then that same night, the Rangers incident happened.
Marwat contended that the state had no intentions until the Rangers incident happened; the state did not want any kind of conflict, so it had come to all kinds of compromises. But after the incident, he added that everything ended. This was a deal, under which Imran Khan was to be released in the morning.
