ISLAMABAD: In a demonstration of commitment to transparency, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has announced a record recovery of Rs1,102.04bn in the third quarter of 2025, marking a 142pc increase over the previous quarter.

This achievement, a rise of Rs645.74bn from the Rs 456.3bn recovered in the second quarter, brings the total recovery for the first three quarters of 2025 to Rs1,649.36bn. The bulk of these recovered funds, movable and immovable assets worth Rs1,637.15bn, have already been disbursed to various federal and provincial ministries, departments, and financial institutions. Furthermore, NAB’s efforts have directly compensated 17,194 victims of various “cheating the public at large” schemes. Over the past two years, NAB has achieved an extraordinary milestone by recovering a total of Rs 6,956.8bn, representing an 829pc increase compared to the total recoveries since the bureau’s inception. This accomplishment is attributed to the dedication and professionalism of NAB officers across the country.

Significant recoveries in the last quarter were achieved by various regional offices. NAB Karachi successfully recovered two valuable plots worth Rs2.8bn in the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) case and handed them over to KPT. Concurrently, NAB Sukkur secured an additional 361 acres of land valued at Rs2.5bn belonging to the National Highway Authority. In a major environmental restitution, the bureau recovered a further 1.39 million acres of mangrove forest land, valued at Rs1,104.97bn. This substantial recovery contributes to a total forest land recovery portfolio of Rs2,592.74bn, which includes 414,036 acres of forest land worth Rs44.8bn recovered specifically by NAB Balochistan. Furthermore, NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recovered state land valued at Rs3.2bn from a case concerning illegal allotments and subsequently handed it over to the Ministry of Industries.

In an effort to expedite justice for citizens, NAB also made its first-ever online disbursement to 5,008 affectees of the B4U case. In line with its mandate, NAB has also initiated action under the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regime. It has launched investigations into multiple high-profile individuals and entities allegedly involved in siphoning crime proceeds to foreign jurisdictions. Preliminary assessments indicate that substantial recoveries are expected from these cases.
