LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed heartfelt gratitude over the achievement of the target set by the Punjab government to provide loans for building 100,000 houses under the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ programme by the end of the year.
She congratulated all the families who built homes under this initiative and appreciated the project team for achieving a one-year target in just ten months. Under the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ programme, Rs120 billion in easy and interest-free loans have been disbursed to 100,835 low-income families. So far, 22,305 houses have been completed and occupied, while 64,190 are in the final stages of completion.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated that the project had set a new milestone in the housing sector and fulfilled a long-cherished dream of providing a roof for the underprivileged. “We can never thank Almighty Allah enough for granting us the opportunity to turn this dream into reality. Nawaz Sharif had first conceived the vision of providing homes to the poor, and by the grace of Allah Almighty, we have been able to carry this noble mission forward.”
The chief minister highlighted that the transparent disbursement of one lakh loans in just 10 months stands as a model of good governance and efficiency by the Punjab government. Reaffirming her strong commitment, she said, “Our resolve to achieve the target of building 500,000 houses in five years remains unwavering. For the first time, the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ project has made ordinary citizens feel that the state cares for them like a mother—protective, nurturing, and compassionate.”
