8-member constitutional bench to hear 26th Amendment case
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Khan Afridi has constituted benches for the forthcoming judicial week, commencing October 20-24, 2025.
According to Cause List issued by the apex court, the CJP constituted benches for hearing different nature of cases. Two Constitutional benches, one comprising eight-member bench, will hear multiple petitions challenging the validity of 26th Constitutional Amendment while the second comprising five-member bench will resume hearing in the matter related to super tax.
In regular benches, Bench No 1 comprises three members -- Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb. Bench No 2 comprises Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi. Bench No 3 comprises Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Ayesha A Malik.
Bench No 4 is Constitutional Bench and comprises five judges -- Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan.
Bench No 5 comprises three members -- Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Irfan Saadat Khan and Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan. Bench No 6 comprises Justice Shahid Waheed and Justice Naeem Akhter Afghan, while Bench No 7 consists of Justice Musarrat Hilali and Justice Salahuddin Panhwar. Similarly, Bench No. 8 comprises Justice Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar, Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Ali Baqar Najafi.
The eight-member Constitutional Bench (Court No 1) headed by Justice Amin Amin-ud-Din Khan will resume hearing on October 20 in the petitions challenging the 26th Constitutional Amendment
Other members of the bench are Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Ayesha A Malik, Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Musarrat Hilali, Justice Naeem Akhter Afghan and Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan.
