PESHAWAR: KP Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi will meet PTI founder chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan at the Adiala Jail on Thursday (today).
An official communique said the chief minister will visit the Adiala Jail to meet the PTI founder. The provincial government, it added, has formally written to the federal and Punjab governments, requesting necessary arrangements and security clearance for the meeting.
The KP Home Department has also sent official letters to the federal interior secretary and the Punjab home secretary, asking them to make the required administrative and security arrangements to facilitate the meeting.
Earlier, after his oath-taking, the chief minister arrived at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, where he was received by the staff. A smartly turned-out police contingent presented him with a guard of honour.
The chief minister formally assumed the charge of his office and was introduced to the secretariat staff, who briefed him on the ongoing administrative matters.
Addressing the staff, Afridi said the Chief Minister’s Secretariat represents the face of the province and should remain open and accessible to the public. He urged officials to treat visitors with respect and courtesy and ensure punctuality and discipline in official affairs.
Also, the chief minister took notice of the case involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Sanam Javed as his first official action after assuming charge. The official statement said the chief minister summoned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to his office and sought a detailed report on the matter. The chief minister emphasized that all aspects of the case be thoroughly reviewed.
