LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved the establishment of a new industrial estate in Sialkot while chairing a special meeting to review matters related to industrial estates across the province on Wednesday.
She approved the development of Sialkot Industrial Estate on 400 acres of land near Sialkot International Airport. She also agreed to offer four industrial estates to foreign investors, while the industrial estates in Bhalwal, Vehari, and Bahawalpur are being considered for potential investment from Saudi investors. In a significant policy shift, the chief minister decided to allocate the Chunian Industrial Estate to the Fisheries Department.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed the authorities concerned to conduct a comprehensive review and restructuring of the current policy governing all industrial estates in the province.
She expressed strong disapproval of past mismanagement and irregularities, stating, “Fraud was being committed right under the nose of the previous administration, and no one bothered to intervene. It is our foremost duty to safeguard every inch of government land in the province.”
The initiatives discussed in the meeting reflect the government’s commitment to industrial development, transparency, and responsible governance, aimed at revitalising Punjab’s economic infrastructure and attracting international investment.
In her message on the eve of the International Day of Rural Women, she emphasised that the primary purpose of observing this day is to acknowledge and celebrate the tireless efforts and contributions of women living in rural areas across Punjab.
Maryam Nawaz underscored that a strong, self-reliant, and prosperous Punjab cannot be built without the active participation of rural women. She highlighted that the Punjab government has launched several initiatives specifically aimed at empowering rural women.
