Maryam orders facilities, e-bus service for Raiwind moot

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz held a meeting with a delegation of senior members of the Tablighi Jamaat Shura on Monday.

The delegation comprising Dr Nadeem Ashraf, Maulana Amjad Farooq, Maulana Muhammad Ameer, Imtiaz Ahmad Ghani, and Arshad lauded her ongoing public welfare initiatives and expressed deep appreciation for the improvements in the urban and rural cleanliness systems across Punjab. The delegation also prayed for her continued success and visionary leadership.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed heartfelt admiration for the religious and social services rendered by the Tablighi Jamaat at Raiwind Markaz. She asked the delegation to offer special prayers for national peace, security, and the well-being of flood victims.

While highlighting her unwavering commitment to facilitate the smooth conduct of the upcoming annual Raiwind Ijtema, the chief minister issued directions to provide all necessary facilities, top-tier security, and other essential arrangements. She announced the launch of a dedicated electric bus service for three days, connecting Raiwind to the railway station and airport during the religious congregation.

The chief minister directed the deputy commissioner, CCPO, DIG, and CTO to personally oversee preparations and arrangements for the annual congregation in Raiwind. She also instructed them to ensure the immediate repair and reconstruction of three major roads leading to Raiwind, along with comprehensive patchwork of other connecting routes.

A special cleanliness campaign, including rosewater spraying, will be conducted throughout the Tablighi Ijtema in Raiwind from November 1 until its conclusion. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz reiterated her unflinching commitment to serving the people of Punjab with sincerity and spiritual devotion. She said, “Serving humanity is a form of worship. Punjab with utmost sincerity and dedication.” She said that while she remains patient in the face of criticism from opponents, she firmly believes that it is sometimes necessary to speak out for the rights of the general public.

In her special message on the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, Maryam Nawaz emphasised that all relevant institutions must remain ever-prepared to face natural disasters to ensure the safety and survival of human life.

She said that while natural disasters cannot be entirely prevented, their devastating effects can be significantly reduced through modern technology, institutional coordination, and timely preparedness. She said, “With proactive measures, we can protect lives, property, and the environment from the irreversible damages of natural calamities.”

Highlighting Punjab’s experience in managing one of the worst floods in its history, she said that the provincial government carried out extensive and swift rescue, relief, evacuation, and rehabilitation operations in the flood-affected areas. “Had there been no preparations, the human loss could have been catastrophic,” she added.

The chief minister proudly mentioned that Punjab had earned global recognition for saving hundreds of thousands of human lives and countless livestock during the recent flood crisis. She further highlighted that timely interventions, including the establishment of medical camps, helped prevent the spread of infectious diseases in the affected areas.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reaffirmed that all relevant departments of the Punjab government remain actively engaged in protecting the public from the hazards of floods, earthquakes, and other natural disasters. “Our strong commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens in the province remains unwavering,” she concluded.
