ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly (NA) will host the Third Trilateral Speakers' Meeting of Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and Türkiye at the Parliament House here on Monday (today).
NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq will chair the trilateral meeting having the theme "Strengthening fraternal ties: parliamentary cooperation for regional peace, security, and prosperity”.
Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Numan Kurtulmus, arrived in Islamabad on Sunday to participate in the trilateral meeting. He was received at the airport by Speaker Sadiq. Welcoming the distinguished guest, Sadiq said the participation of Kurtulmus in the trilateral meeting was an honour for Pakistan and emphasised that the people of both the countries share deep-rooted bonds of brotherhood, love, and friendship. He remarked that the people of Pakistan consider the people of Türkiye as their brethren, and both nations have stood side by side through every test and trial.
The NA speaker further noted that Pakistan and Türkiye have always supported each other’s positions on global and regional forums, which reflects the enduring friendship and mutual trust between the two brotherly countries.
On the occasion, Speaker Kurtulmus, expressed gratitude to the parliament and the people of Pakistan for their warm welcome and hospitality. He remarked that the hearts of the people of Türkiye and Pakistan beat in unison, and that the people of Türkiye consider Pakistan their second home. He expressed confidence that the everlasting bond of sincerity, affection, and friendship between the two nations would continue to grow stronger.
In the meantime, Speaker of the Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan, Madame Sahiba Gafarova, arrived in the federal capital on Sunday. Welcoming the distinguished guest, Speaker Sadiq highlighted the strong bond of fraternity and friendship between the people of Pakistan and Azerbaijan. He said both the brotherly nations have always stood by each other during times of trials and challenges.
He further said Pakistan and Azerbaijan have consistently supported each other’s positions at regional and international forums, which reflects the mutual trust and longstanding relations between the two countries. Madame Gafarova expressed her gratitude to the parliament and the people of Pakistan for the warm hospitality. She remarked that the ties between the people of Azerbaijan and Pakistan are based on mutual respect and brotherhood. “Azerbaijan considers Pakistan a sincere friend and brother, and the strong bilateral relations are founded on mutual trust, cooperation, and respect,” she added.
