FC man martyred in Bannu attack

BANNU: An explosion targeting a convoy of the Federal Constabulary (FC) at Azad Mandi left one personnel martyred and another injured, while one militant was reportedly wounded in retaliatory fire.

The incident occurred within the limits of the Cantonment Police Station near Azad Mandi, where an FC vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb. After the blast, an exchange of fire took place between the security forces and militants.

In the ensuing gun battle, FC constable Dost Muhammad embraced martyrdom, while Havaldar Shameem sustained injuries.

Security forces returned the fire, injuring one militant who, along with his accomplices, managed to escape. The injured and martyred FC personnel were shifted to CMH in Bannu.

Meanwhile, four minor children were injured in a quadcopter attack in the Momandkhel area.

According to police, an explosive was dropped from a quadcopter in Faiz Muhammad Korona, Khudri Momandkhel, within the jurisdiction of Cantonment Police Station.

The injured were identified as 10-year-old Mehman, son of Abdullah; 6-year-old Mamoon, son of Mausamur Rehman; 5-year-old Masoom, son of Tayyabur Rehman; and 6-year-old Salman, son of Umar Khitab -- all residents of Momandkhel. The injured children were immediately shifted to District Headquarters Hospital, Bannu.
