An on-duty police constable was arrested for his alleged involvement in motorcycle theft, officials said on Saturday.
The police recovered a stolen Honda 125 motorcycle, an unlicensed 30-bore pistol, and a master key used for breaking motorcycle locks from the suspect’s possession.
The arrested officer, identified as Constable Waryam Khan, son of Deenu Magsi, was posted at the Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station. According to police, CCTV footage from two separate incidents clearly showed the suspect stealing the motorcycle.
He was arrested by Yousuf Plaza police under FIR No. 104/25, registered under Section 381/A, after positive identification from the footage. Investigations revealed that the constable had previously been arrested in an illegal arms case and was involved in selling stolen motorcycles to drug peddlers.
The AVLC Gulberg Division team was praised for its swift and professional action during the operation. “The law is equal for everyone—no exceptions,” said AVLC SSP Amjad Ahmed Sheikh.
The police added that the accused was linked to at least seven different criminal cases registered in various police stations, and further investigation was underway.
