KOHAT: Unidentified gunmen shot dead two employees of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on the Indus Highway here on Saturday, police officials said.
They said unidentified assailants in a car opened fire on the FBR employees near the old toll plaza, killing them on the spot. The victims were identified as Muhammad Nazar and Muqaddar Ali.
Officials said that both employees were waiting for someone on the highway when they came under attack.
The attackers managed to flee after the shooting and the bodies were shifted to the hospital for post-mortem.
A case was registered at the Bilitang Police Station against unidentified killers, the officials said, adding a search operation has been launched to trace and arrest the culprits.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. However, the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
