Hamas, Palestinian factions reject any ‘foreign guardianship’ over Gaza

CAIRO/ WASHINGTON: Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine rejected in a joint statement on Friday any “foreign guardianship” over Gaza, stressing that its governance is a purely internal Palestinian matter.

They also expressed their readiness to benefit from Arab and international participation in the reconstruction of the enclave.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump plans to convene world leaders for a summit on Gaza during his visit to Egypt next week, Axios reported on Friday, citing four sources with knowledge of the matter.Among those expected to participate are representatives from Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Indonesia, Axios said, citing the sources.
