Terrorists attack police training centre in DI Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A powerful explosion followed by intense gunfire occurred near the newly established Police Training Centre here late Friday night, causing panic in the surrounding areas.

The blast was so strong that the walls of nearby houses shook, and the sound was heard miles away.

According to initial reports, unidentified terrorists launched a sudden attack on the Dera Police Training Centre located in the jurisdiction of the Shorkot Police Station. Police and security forces swiftly cordoned off the entire area. Sources said that seven to eight terrorists carried out the assault using heavy weapons.

A fierce exchange of gunfire took place between the attackers and police personnel.

Preliminary information suggested that one suicide bomber detonated explosives near the training centre, while police retaliated effectively, killing three terrorists on the spot.

Additional police reinforcements from Ijaz Shaheed Police Lines arrived to support the ongoing operation. DPO Sajjad Ahmed led the police team.

By the latest reports, security forces, Pakistan Army, police, and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel jointly took part in the operation.

A total of four terrorists, including one suicide bomber, were killed, while six security personnel sustained injuries during the encounter.

The situation was brought under control, and a search operation was underway in the surrounding areas to ensure complete security.
