RAHIM YAR KHAN: A suspect involved in the acid attack on his wife, two daughters and mother-in-law was killed in encounter with police in Taranda Muhammad Panah on Sunday.
According to police sources, the encounter took place late last night during routine checking when the accused opened fire on the police party.
A police team led by Liaquatpur DSP Fakhar Zaman Khan and Taranda Muhammad Panah SHO set up a roadblock in the area. When the officers signaled a group of suspicious individuals to stop, the suspects opened indiscriminate fire. The police, acting in self-defense, retaliated killing one of the suspects, while others managed to escape. The police also recovered illegal weapons from the deceased suspect and began search for the other suspects.
The deceased was identified as Riaz, the prime suspect in a horrifying acid attack incident that occurred a few days ago. Riaz had poured acid on his wife, two daughters, and mother-in-law over a domestic dispute related to divorce. In the incident, his wife and one daughter had died, while his mother-in-law and another daughter were seriously injured.
