KARACHI: Meta Platforms Inc has launched Instagram Map in Pakistan, introducing an interactive tool designed to help users explore location-tagged content and share real-time updates with friends, a statement said on Saturday.
The feature, now available at the top of users’ DM inboxes, lets people discover stories, reels, posts and notes linked to concerts, cafes and other venues. Users can also choose to share their last active location with selected friends or keep it private.
Meta said privacy controls remain central to the rollout. Location sharing is switched off by default, with clear indicators showing when it is active. The company added reminders for users tagging content with locations, and parents supervising teens can view and manage sharing preferences.
Instagram Map has also been refined with updates such as removing profile photos from map content, clarifying indicators when location is disabled, and providing previews of how tagged posts will appear.
Pakistan is among the key growth markets for Meta, with Instagram’s user base expanding rapidly in the country.
