MINGORA: The scenic valley of Kalam in Swat witnessed the first snowfall of the winter season, turning the region into a breathtaking landscape as white flakes blanketed the mountains and surrounding areas.
Intermittent snowfall continued in Kalam’s upper and hilly regions, while plains are experiencing spells of rain, adding to the chill in the air.
The sudden drop in temperature has forced residents to take out their warm clothing as the cold intensified.
Meanwhile, heavy hailstorms lashed tourist destinations including Gabin Jabba, Lalco, and adjoining areas, leading to the closure of connecting roads.
Rescue teams, aided by tractors and heavy machinery, are working tirelessly to clear blocked routes and restore access.
Authorities said that relief and road-clearing operations were ongoing in several affected areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, the spell of rain and snowfall was expected to continue in both upper and plain regions of Swat until October 5.
