PESHAWAR: The KP government withdrew security from Awami National Party (ANP) President Senator Aimal Wali Khan on October 4, 2025, amid a deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Talking to the media, the ANP chief said that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has assured him that his security would remain intact. This development followed a day of heated exchanges between ANP leadership and federal cabinet members.On October 4, 2025, Aimal Wali Khan tweeted that the federal government and the Interior Ministry have withdrawn all security personnel assigned to him, his father Asfandyar Wali Khan, and their family. He further tweeted that the provincial government had also decided to withdraw all security personnel allocated to him.
However, senior KP officials contacted the ANP chief soon after, clarifying that the provincial government was not involved in the decision to withdraw security.
“Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur called me and clarified that he has nothing to do with this issue, and the Interior Ministry directly instructed the Inspector General of Police,” Aimal Wali tweeted a couple of hours after reporting the security withdrawal. In a subsequent tweet, he confirmed that the Chief Minister had reached out to him, stating, “The CM assured that the security of me and my family will remain intact. Indebted.”
Meanwhile, the provincial government has directed the police to ensure the security of Aimal Wali Khan and his family along with senior party leaders who have faced multiple attacks in recent years.
