Rawalpindi: Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Amir Khattak has directed that WASA and municipal bodies should take special steps during the rains to improve the drainage system.
The Civil Defense Emergency Plan should be kept active on the prediction of heavy rains by the Meteorological Department from October 5 to 7 so that immediate action can be taken in any emergency situation.
He expressed these views in a meeting of the Divisional Coordination Committee held at the Commissioner's Office Rawalpindi. The meeting was attended by Director Development Zenia Khan, Director Local Government Sibtain Kazmi, CO Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) and officers and heads of other relevant institutions.
The Commissioner said that he will pay a detailed visit to Raja Bazaar and Commercial Market next week to review the encroachments and besides removing the encroachments, ongoing development works, cleanliness, traffic management will be reviewed there.
