Violating human rights in occupied Kashmir is India's track record: FO

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office on Thursday said that India's track record was filled with human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.  

In its weekly briefing, the Foreign Office said that it had raised the issue of Kashmir on every platform and would continue to do so. 

Regarding the recent comments made by Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani a couple of days ago, the Foreign Office spokesperson said that such comments made by the Afghan President could cause damage.

"Such statements can only bring benefit to those countries who do not want peace," he said. "Whatever happens in Afghanistan, Pakistan is always affected by it."

Nafees Zakaria said that Pakistan was carrying out positive and concrete steps against terrorism. He further said that Pakistan was a stakeholder in the peace that was in Afghanistan. 

The spokesperson for the Foreign Office also said that Pakistan had suffered more than all nations combined. He further said that India's policies were standing in the way of peace in the region. 

"India does not qualify to be a permanent member of the Security Council," he said. "Violating human rights in occupied Kashmir is India's track record."
The Foreign Office said that Kashmir was an important issue based on which wars had been fought hence the solution only lay in negotiations

The Foreign Office also said that John McCain had toured North Waziristan and was satisfied with the law and order situation in the region. The FO spokesperson also said that from Obama to John McCain, everyone was aware regarding Pakistan's role in the war on terror.

The Foreign Office also said that the Congress meeting which was held to ban aid to Pakistan would not yield positive results.
