ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri has moved the Supreme Court, challenging the Sindh High Court’s (SHC) decision to dismiss his request to become a party in fake degree case.

In his appeal filed on Thursday, the appellant named the Sindh Education Commission, University of Karachi, Pemra and ten other institutions as respondents, requesting that the SHC’s September 25 decision be declared null and void. The appellant argued that the SHC dismissed his request to become a party in the case concerning his LLB degree without hearing his side. He claimed that this one-sided decision was unlawful, and the SHC also ignored the question of whether the case was even admissible.

He further stated that he was not made a party to the case, nor was he given the opportunity to engage a lawyer before the decision was made. Justice Jahangiri contended that the matter of his degree should not have been assigned to a constitutional bench. He emphasised that he is not only a sitting judge but has also held positions in various bar associations.

The IHC judge submitted that the cancellation of his LLB degree, was based on malice and is unlawful.
