Islamabad:To deal with forest fires, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to employ state-of-the-art equipment such as use of drones and establishment of watchtowers.
A meeting regarding Capital Emergency Services was held here Friday at the CDA Headquarters and chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting was attended by CDA Board members, Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, DG Capital Emergency Services (CES) Dr. Abdul Rehman and other senior officers.
The meeting discussed the upgradation and modernisation of CES. During the briefing, it was informed that consultation and assistance are being sought from the NDMA in this regard, and modern equipment will be provided to further strengthen and upgrade the CES.
The meeting was informed that drones, rescue motorbikes, and vehicles will be provided to enhance the performance of CES. Similarly, a modern emergency operations center will be established to monitor emergency operations and ensure a swift response. It was further informed that a suitable location has been identified for establishment of the center.
Randhawa said that a modern system for real-time tracking and monitoring will also be established in the center. He directed that the process of staff recruitment and professional training at the Emergency Services Academy be expedited to improve the efficiency of rescue operations. He said that response time should be further improved by integrating trackers in ambulances and linking with private ambulance services in the city. The CDA chief emphasised the low-cost and swift construction of more sub-stations, saying that priority should be given to use of modern equipment and technology in this regard.
