ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday reserved its verdict in a case related to a domestic dispute between a father and his son and daughter.
A three-member SC bench, headed by Justice Hashim Kakar, heard the case. During the hearing, the lawyer informed the court that the father had remarried and now wants to evict his son and daughter from the house. Justice Kakar remarked that getting married a second time is not a sin.
Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim observed that the house is in the father’s name, and if he wishes, he can even donate it to charity. He advised that it would be better if the children reconciled with their father.
During the hearing, the father, Dr Asif, claimed that his daughter assaulted him and spat on his face.
To this, Justice Hashim Kakar responded that she is a daughter, not some Phoolan Devi (a notorious bandit), that she would beat up her father.
Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim observed that it seems the children have seriously upset the father. Justice Salahuddin Panhwar noted that this could be a case of domestic violence, but it is not about illegal possession of the property. Later, the court reserved the judgment in the matter.
