47 railway employees drawing salaries during deputation, NA panel told
ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Railways has constituted a sub-committee to investigate the issue of 47 railway officers allegedly drawing salaries from Pakistan Railways while on deputation.
A requisitioned meeting of the committee was presided over by MNA Waseem Qadir in the chairman’s absence. The committee was briefed on an inquiry report related to 47 officers who continued to receive salaries and incentives from Pakistan Railways during their postings abroad or during deputation. It subsequently formed a sub-committee to be chaired by Malik Abrar Ahmed and comprising Dr. Mehreen Razzaq Bhutto, Syed Wasim Hussain, and Sadiq Ali Memon as members. It was tasked with conducting an inquiry and presenting its findings to the main committee.
The NA Standing Committee on Railways also discussed “The Transfer of Railways (Amendment) Bill, 2025” and decided to continue deliberations in its next meeting. It also reviewed issues related to experienced employees of the Railway Construction Company (RAILCOP), Pakistan Advisory and Consultancy Services, and Pakistan Railway Freight and Transportation Company. It was informed that the Legal Advisor of Pakistan Railways met with the Additional Attorney General about Shalimar Hospital land issue, following the committee’s earlier recommendations. It recommended resolving the issue in consultation with the Chief Secretary of Punjab.
Additionally, the committee was updated on repair work for the railway bridge over Kabul River at Nowshera Kalan. The NA panel directed the General Manager of Pakistan Railways to resolve the land title restoration issue for Mouza Sonaki, Tehsil and District Muzaffargarh, in consultation with the Senior Member of the Board of Revenue, Lahore.
