ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, endorsing this year’s United Nations theme for the International Day of Peace, “Act Now for a Peaceful World”, has called on the global community to confront aggression and injustice, particularly the unchecked hostilities of India and Israel, which continue to endanger regional and global peace.

“The peace is not merely the absence of conflict but the presence of justice, equality, and mutual respect among nations. Peace is the cornerstone of prosperity. Without it, democracy withers, justice falters, and the human spirit suffers,” he said in his message on the International Day of Peace.

Condemning global injustices, Bilawal said: “Humanity will forever bear the shame of the atrocities inflicted by Israeli forces in Gaza and the brutalities of Indian occupation forces in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). These tragedies are not just regional issues — they are wounds on the conscience of mankind, and a call to the world to act with urgency and resolve.”

He paid rich tribute to Pakistan’s founding fathers and martyrs who envisioned a nation rooted in dignity, justice, and peace. He pointed out that the PPP, under the leadership and vision of Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, has always stood for peace — both within Pakistan and in the country’s relations with the world.

The PPP chairman warned that extremism, poverty, and inequality remain grave threats to peace and stability. “True peace cannot be built on silence on oppression. It demands social justice, the empowerment of the marginalised, and the protection of fundamental human rights. A peaceful Pakistan is not only our people’s aspiration but also a solemn trust for the generations yet to come,” he added.

Reaffirming his unwavering commitment, Bilawal pledged that the PPP will continue its struggle for a peaceful, democratic, and progressive Pakistan — a Pakistan that upholds the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, honours the sacrifices of its martyrs, and contributes meaningfully to global peace, stability, and cooperation.
