Over 6.3m new voters registered since Feb 8, 2024 polls

ISLAMABAD: There has been an increase of over 6.3 million new voters since last year’s general election, taking the total number of registered voters to 134.9 million from 128.6 million on February 8, 2024.

As many as 106 million voters had been registered by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to take part in the general election conducted in 2018.

According to the latest data of the countrywide registered voters, 72.3 million males and 62.5 million females now form the national database of voters and their percentage is 53.62 percent and 46.38 percent respectively.

In the Islamabad Capital Territory, numbers of voters have increased to 1.21 million, of which 633,450 are male and 578,429 are female voters with the narrowest gender gap, as 52.27 percent are males and 47.73 percent are females.

Among the four federating units, the area-wise largest province, Balochistan remains behind the other three provinces in terms of its registered voters, as there are 3.15 million male and 2.49 million female voters.

There are a total of 5.63 million voters and 55.98 percent are males and 44.02 percent are females.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is ahead of Balochistan with 23 million voters, and of them 12.4 million are male and 10.5 million female voters; 54.33 percent are males and 45.67 percent are females.

Sindh is the second largest province, as it houses 28.28 million voters with 15.26 million male and 13.01 million female voters; 53.98 percent are males and 46.02 percent are females.

The province of Punjab now has a database of 76.81 million registered voters; 40.80 million are male and 36.01 million female voters, and they are with a respective ratio of 53.12 percent and 46.88 percent.
