Another 117 test positive for dengue from Pindi in a week

Rawalpindi : As many as 117 individuals have tested positive for dengue fever from Rawalpindi district in the last one week showing the outbreak is getting more and more intense with each passing day.

Data collected by ‘The News’ on Saturday has revealed that the total number of patients so far tested positive for dengue fever from Rawalpindi district this year reached 436 while the number of confirmed dengue patients belonging to Rawalpindi district who were undergoing treatment at the hospitals in Rawalpindi on Saturday was recorded as 43.

Data reveals that the dengue fever has been hitting population severely in various localities in the district. In the last 24 hours, as many as 23 new patients were confirmed positive for dengue fever from the district from localities including Rehmatabad, Dhoke Kashmirian, Gangal, Dhama Syedan, Chak Jalal Din, Girja, Katarian, Shakrial, Kotha Kalan, Mohanpura, Muslim Town, Afandi Colony, Pindora, Dhoke Kala Khana along with localities in cantonment board areas.

Health experts believe that the situation regarding dengue fever spread in the district is still well under control though it may turn alarming in the coming days if proper preventive and control measures are not taken by all the stakeholders including individuals.

The situation may get alarming because nearly 80 per cent of the total confirmed cases so far reported from the district are from localities in Potohar Town (peri-urban areas), Potohar Rural, Chaklala Cantonment Board, Rawalpindi Cantonment Board and Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi.

Experts say that the most alarming fact is that dengue fever patients are being reported from almost every part of the town and it is important that the confirmation of a greater number of patients from a region increases the chances of spread of dengue fever in the region.
