Solidarity with flood victims : PPP cancels Bilawal’s birthday celebrations
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has announced the cancellation of celebrations marking PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s birthday, citing solidarity with flood victims across the country, particularly in Punjab.
According to a statement issued by the PPP Secretariat here on Friday, no cake-cutting ceremonies or festive gatherings will be held on September 21.
Instead, the party would focus on mobilising donations and relief goods for those affected by floods, particularly in Punjab, where the situation remains dire. Subtul Haider Bukhari, incharge of the PPP Secretariat, said the flood-hit communities were in urgent need of clean water, staples such as flour, pulses and sugar, as well as medicines and dry milk.
The party is working to ensure the provision of essential supplies in the affected areas.
He appealed to affluent sections of society to step forward and contribute generously, stressing that the flood victims were facing severe hardships and needed sustained support.
