SUKKUR: A fresh flood wave from Mehar is expected to hit protective embankments near Sehwan, forcing evacuations in low-lying areas.
The rising waters have already inundated several katcha settlements in Dadu and Mehar tehsils, while a breach at Nayo Goth flooded four more villages, destroying cotton and sesame crops. In total, 46 villages have gone under water, severing road links to Mehar and Dadu towns. Authorities reported a 24,000 cusecs drop in Indus River flow at Sukkur Barrage, with the surge forecast to reach Kotri Barrage early next week.
