Marriyum Aurangzeb, Salman Rafique supervise flood relief
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed a deep sense of grief and sorrow over death of four people in a traffic accident near Jahanian.
She offered condolences and extended her heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families.
As directed by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique visited flood-affected areas of Saitpur on boats, and reached Alipur at night after visiting Saitpur during the day.
On directions of chief minister, they met flood victims in flood relief camps, and delivered tents to interior areas of Saitpur. They said that food, dry ration and other relief goods were also reaching flood victims of Saitpur.
Senior minister assured them that chief minister would compensate for their loss. She said that tents, relief goods and food were being delivered to flood victims. She acknowledged that Alipur had been completely submerged, there had been a lot of damage.
Senior minister said that on chief minister’s directions, work of estimating damage caused by flood had been started.
She added that chief minister had directed the district administrations concerned to determine damage of each flood-affected person.
A flood victim said that earlier, Nawaz Sharif himself had reached the flood-affected areas, and today his daughter had sent them, at which Madam Marriyum Aurangzeb replied that Salman Rafique and she had still been sent to them by Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.
Furthermore, on chief minister’s directions, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, Sohaib Bharat and other ministers left to visit Kandai Dam where more than 2,000 people were affected due to flood torrents.
They visited the flood-affected areas of Khairpur Sadat, Kotla Ghulam Shah, Mason Kot, Kotla Bakhsh and Sarki, and also visited the relief camp set up in Alipur.
They also reviewed the provision of food, dry ration, tents and medical facilities besides other relief materials.
