PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has completed three hydropower projects this year with a total capacity of 63 megawatts.
An official handout said that Energy and Power Secretary Muhammad Zubair Khan chaired a meeting to review progress on the seven ongoing hydropower projects
The meeting was told that the three projects would annually generate a revenue of Rs4.4 billion for the province.
It said that work was underway on three flagship energy projects in Swat district from which 330 megawatts of electricity would be produced in the next two years.
Work was accelerated on laying a 40-kilometre transmission line on the Swat corridor, which will be completed next year. The electricity from this project will be sold to the industrial sector of the province.
The chief executive of the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization briefed the meeting that 40.8 megawatts Koto HPP Dir, 11.8 megawatts Karora Shangla and 10.2 megawatts Jabori Mansehra, had been completed this year.
