PESHAWAR: The provincial general council of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) has termed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government the most “corrupt, incompetent and anti-people” in the province’s history.

It said there was virtually no system of governance in the province and that people were longing for peace, relief, and rehabilitation after the massive destruction caused by recent floods.

“There is no peace or security in the country and the life of every individual is under threat,” Maulana Fazlur Rehman, central chief of the party, said while addressing the meeting held here on Sunday.

“These days, leaving home and returning safely is a matter of luck. Killers roam freely while the state is helpless before them. The government and law enforcement agencies have failed to provide security to the people,” he said.

The Maulana accused international powers of interfering in local affairs, saying that the vested interests of foreign countries were impeding progress on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and thus blocking the country’s economic uplift.

He said they were fed up with the flawed policies of the previous government led by Imran Khan, but it was a matter of serious concern that the current federal government had also failed to change course.

The JUIF chief insisted that militants did not arrive on their own but were brought in by certain elements within the country and abroad.

He alleged that international forces were making deep inroads into Pakistan’s internal affairs.

“The situation here is manufactured, not accidental. There is no genuine government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The PTI has been imposed on the people by the establishment. They have broken all records of corruption. Those who sponsor this government are equally responsible for destroying this province,” he argued.

The Maulana also spoke about legislative matters. He lauded his party’s moves to remove “harmful clauses” from the 26th Amendment. However, he warned against attempts to deprive provinces, especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, of their rights over mineral resources. “The mineral wealth belongs to the province, its people, and future generations. If local and provincial rights are violated during lawmaking, JUI-F will resist it,” he stressed.

He declared that his party was ready to protect provincial rights through lawful means but would not allow anyone to deprive the people of their due rights. “We do not believe in the politics of guns. Our stance is clear and firm. We believe in peaceful political struggle,” he maintained.

The meeting was chaired by the provincial chief of the party, Senator Maulana Attaur Rehman, and was attended by council members from across the province.

Reports on the party’s performance were presented by various wings. Muhammad Raheem Haqqani presented the executive committee’s performance report, Abdul Jaleel Jan shared the media and social media report, Noorul Islam submitted the financial report, Israr Marwat presented the Ansarul Islam report, Maulana Ahmad Ali Darwaish presented the Jamiat Teachers’ Forum report, while Pervaiz Khattak submitted the Jamiat Business Forum report.

The council expressed solidarity with the families affected by recent floods in Buner, Swat, Shangla, Swabi, and Mansehra. The participants vowed to continue supporting the victims.

The meeting criticized the provincial government’s disappointing role during the flood devastation. It also condemned rampant corruption, the deteriorating law and order situation, abolition of local government powers, and announcements about privatization of schools and hospitals in the province.

The meeting also decided that the Mufti Mehmood Conference would be held in Dera Ismail Khan on October 16.
