TANK: Three persons, including a woman, were shot dead while another was critically injured when unidentified gunmen opened indiscriminate fire near the Nadra office on Railway Station Road here on Saturday.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Tank, Shabbir Hussain Shah, the assailants targeted the victims in the jurisdiction of City Police Station. The injured was shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Tank for initial treatment and later referred to DHQ Hospital Dera Ismail Khan due to his critical condition. The bodies of the deceased were moved to DHQ Hospital Tank for post-mortem.
The DPO said police contingents reached the site soon after the incident, and investigations were underway from all possible angles.
Local sources said the slain family belonged to the government-backed Turkistan group, which had previously come under several deadly attacks. They added that the victims had no known personal enmities. Residents also expressed concern over the worsening law and order situation in Tank, pointing out that armed groups frequently loot people in broad daylight on the Tank–Dera Ismail Khan Road near Ranwal Adda, while authorities have yet to take concrete measures to restore peace.
