ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar has said that advocate Imaan Mazari is like his daughter and he was advising her as chief justice and as an elder.

The chief justice observed that his remarks were taken out of context and a storm was created. He said the spouse of Imaan Mazari was also standing there and he asked him to take her out of the courtroom; otherwise, contempt of court proceedings would be initiated.

During the hearing of a case, Chief Justice Dogar clarified his position with regard to an incident involving an exchange of heated arguments with advocate Imaan Mazari in the courtroom on Thursday. He observed that Imaan Mazari is like his daughter, and he was advising her on Thursday that she could disagree with his decisions, but she should not make personal comments about him.

The IHC chief justice clarified that he did not say that he would catch her and this matter was reported out of context. Justice Dogar said that he asked the spouse of advocate Imaan Mazari to take her outside or he would initiate contempt of court proceedings, which would affect her professional career.

He observed that the advocate was not listening to his advice and she kept insisting on fundamental rights. He asked if this court has no rights.
