ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has de-notified two more PTI-backed members of the Punjab Assembly for their role in May 9, 2023 incidents.
Shahid Jamil, MPA from PP-115, and Muhammad Ismael, MPA from PP-116, Faisalabad were convicted by the Anti-Terrorism Court on August 25.
A notification to this effect reads, “in pursuance of order dated 25.08.2025 passed by the Anti-Terrorism Court Faisalabad, in case No. 44/ATC/FSD/2023, Trial No.79/ATC/FSD/2024 titled “State Vs Aurang Zaib etc”, whereby Shahid Javed, MPA from PP-115 Faisalabad-XVIII, Muhammad Ismael, MPA from PP-116 Faisalabad-XIX in the Provincial Assembly of Punjab, have been convicted and sentenced for imprisonment to more than two years under different counts”.
“As a consequence, Shahid Javed, MPA from PP-115 Faisalabad-XVIII and Muhammad Ismael, MPA from PP-116 Faisalabad-XIX are hereby disqualified under Article 63(1)(h) of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan and are hereby de-notified. Consequently, their seats have become vacant,” says the notification.
