ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq urged the members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed Sunni Ittehad Council members to reconsider their decision of resigning from the standing committees of the National Assembly, saying: “I wish that they should remain part of the standing committees of the House”.
He made these remarks while chairing a meeting of the House Business Advisory Committee prior to conducting Monday’s sitting of the Lower House of the Parliament. The meeting of the House Business Advisory Committee deliberated on the agenda and duration of the 19th session of the National Assembly.
It was decided that the ongoing 19th session will remain brief, with proceedings focused exclusively on discussion on the devastating floods confronting the country. To facilitate this, the committee agreed to suspend the question hour and hold a special discussion on the flood situation.
The PTI-backed members did not attend the meeting of the House Business Advisory Committee. Those who attended the meeting included Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Federal Minister Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, MNAs Syed Naveed Qamar, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, Khalid Hussain Magsi, Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, Syed Hafeezuddin, Pauline Baloch, Gul Asghar Khan, Senator Nuzhat Sadiq, and Syeda Shehla Raza.
