TEHRAN: Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, has said that the Islamic Republic is prepared to eradicate terrorism and secure its borders with Pakistan.
Major General Mousavi expressed this readiness during a telephone conversation with his Pakistani counterpart, Field Marshal Asim Munir, on Tuesday. He highlighted the increasing cross-border movements of terrorist groups and called for joint efforts to eliminate terrorism.
While expressing sympathy with the flood-affected people across the border, the top Iranian general stated, “Iran would proudly provide any assistance within its power to our dear brothers in Pakistan.” Mousavi also voiced satisfaction over the state of bilateral relations, noting that Iran and Pakistan have been interacting and cooperating at various levels. He particularly commended Pakistan’s stance and support for Iran during the 12-day Israeli-imposed war.
In response, Field Marshal Munir thanked General Mousavi for his expression of sympathy with the people of Pakistan and offered his condolences to the families of victims of the recent terrorist attack in Iran’s Sistan Baluchestan Province. He also supported the call to strengthen border security, stating that the two countries must work together to transform the Pakistan-Iran border into one of friendship, brotherhood and economic development.
