RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Saturday emphasised the importance of joint civil-military efforts in addressing the challenges faced by the people of Balochistan, and reaffirmed unwavering support for all initiatives aimed at improving the socioeconomic development of southern Balochistan.

During his visit to Turbat district in Balochistan, he reiterated the Pakistan Army’s commitment to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the people of Balochistan in their pursuit of peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the purpose of the visit was to review the prevailing security situation, assess development initiatives and reinforce coordination between military and civil institutions for the stability and prosperity of Balochistan. Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, the chief secretary and other senior officials were also present.

The Field Marshal was given a comprehensive briefing on the security dynamics, including threat perceptions and successful operations against Fitna al-Hindustan, as well as ongoing development projects and efforts to enhance the socioeconomic conditions in southern Balochistan. During his interaction with the Chief Minister of Balochistan and representatives of the civil administration, the Field Marshal highlighted the need for good governance, infrastructure development and the importance of inclusive, people-centric progress.

While addressing the troops, the COAS appreciated their high morale, operational readiness and unwavering commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty. He commended their role in ensuring peace and stability in the region under challenging circumstances.

Earlier, upon his arrival, Field Marshal Asim Munir was received by the Corps Commander Balochistan.
