LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited World Expo 2025 in Osaka on Saturday, where Expo Association Deputy Secretary General Manatsu Ichinoki warmly welcomed her and briefed her on the exhibition.

He said, “One hundred and fifty Japanese and foreign companies have set up their stalls at Expo 2025. The World Expo 2025 highlights equipment and methods related to saving human lives and providing better facilities to improve living standards. Eminent experts from around the world will discuss the future of humanity, along with presenting solutions to the problems faced by societies. The exhibition also features a water and light show titled Rainbow in the Dark Night, which has become a major attraction for tourists.”

The chief minister appreciated the theme Creating a Future Society for a Better Life chosen for Osaka Expo 2025. She also visited the Pakistani pavilion, where she was warmly received by the organisers, and interacted with both Pakistani and foreign visitors.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said, “Cities of Punjab will be developed on the concept of a Future City.” She also visited the stall of eco-friendly food and agriculture company Kuboto.

Later, the chief minister was given a tour of the “Grand Ring” in Osaka, the world’s largest wooden building, standing 20 meters high and spread over 61,000 square meters.

Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz took notice of complaints regarding non-payment of full salaries to Suthra (Clean) Punjab workers.

Expressing anger over workers being denied the minimum wage fixed by the government, she issued a final warning to contractors and directed them to ensure timely payment of the minimum salary in every city.
