Islamabad:Denmark’s Chargé d’Affaires ad interim, Peter Emil Nielsen, hosted a dinner reception in Islamabad in honour of a high-level delegation from the Danish Energy Agency (DEA), led by Carl-Christian Munk-Nielsen, Director at the Centre for Global Cooperation, says a press release.

The event gathered government officials, representatives from the energy sector, climate action stakeholders, and members of the donor community. Distinguished guests included Federal Minister for Climate Change, Dr. Musadik Masood Malik, Minister of State at the Ministry of Climate Change, Dr. Shezra Ali Khan, and the Special Adviser to the Prime Minister on Power, Muhammad Ali.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Nielsen extended heartfelt condolences to the people of Pakistan on the devastating loss of lives and destruction caused by recent cloudbursts and floods. He noted that these tragic events are a reminder of the urgency of climate action and underlined the importance of continued collaboration between Denmark and Pakistan in building a sustainable and resilient future.

Reflecting on the success of the Danish Energy Transition Initiative (DETI), which since 2021 has brought Danish experts and Pakistani officials together to advance the green transition, Mr. Nielsen highlighted that Denmark now looks forward to expanding its cooperation with Pakistan in the energy sector. Plans are being shaped to further strengthen this partnership under a Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) programme for the energy sector.

Federal Minister for Climate Change, Dr. Musadik Masood Malik, welcomed Denmark’s continued engagement in Pakistan’s energy and climate transition, emphasizing that international partnerships such as these are vital to addressing shared challenges and unlocking new opportunities.

Carl-Christian Munk-Nielsen also spoke on the occasion, outlining the DEA delegation’s ongoing visit and areas where future cooperation may be focused, including renewable energy development, energy efficiency, and climate resilience.

The reception served as a platform for dialogue among government counterparts, development partners, and stakeholders, reinforcing the shared ambition of Denmark and Pakistan to pursue a cleaner and more sustainable energy future together.
