LAHORE:Punjab Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Mal Sohail Shaukat Butt Friday said 2,755 applications for mass marriages have been successfully verified by tehsil verification committees out of a total of 5,546 received so far.
He said under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the target for mass marriages under the Dhee Rani Programme 2025-26 has been enhanced from 3,000 to 5,000 couples.
The minister announced that ceremonies would formally begin in September across Punjab and continue until June 2026. He reiterated the CM’s resolve that no daughter of Punjab should be deprived of marriage due to financial constraints. He added that the Punjab government would bear the entire cost of the mass marriages, while each couple would also be gifted a Salami Card worth Rs 200,000.
