ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Thursday released the schedule for by-elections on two more National Assembly and one Provincial Assembly seats from Punjab.
According to the schedule, polling for the by-elections will be held on October 5. “In pursuance of the provisions of Section 57 of the Elections Act, 2017 (Act No. XXXIII of 2017, read with Section 102, clause (4) of Article 224 and Article 254 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Election Commission hereby calls upon the electors of the Constituencies No. NA-96 Faisalabad-II, NA-104 Faisalabad-X and PP-98 Faisalabad-I, to elect a member to fill the seat from the said Constituencies, which have become vacant due to disqualification of Rai Haider Ali Khan, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, MNAs, and Junaid Afzal Sahi, MPA, and specifies in relation thereto, the following dates for bye-elections…,” says a notification issued here.
The returning officers will issue a public notice on August 26, while candidates can submit nomination papers from August 28 to 30, whereas the provisional list of candidates will be released on August 30, while the election symbols will be allotted to the candidates on September 16, on completion of the remaining stages of the related process.
