GHQ attack case: Non-bailable arrest warrants for Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul and 12 other PTI leaders
RAWALPINDI: The Special Anti-Terrorism Court has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for 14 accused, including Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul and Kanwal Shozab in 12 cases of May 9, including the GHQ attack case, and ordered that the accused be arrested and presented in court on September 3.
The court rejected an application for exemption from appearance by the accused. In addition to Prosecutor Zaheer Shah, the accused’s lawyers were present at the hearing. The lawyers filed an application for exemption from appearance on behalf of the 14 accused, on which the prosecution told the court that the 14 were convicted by the courts of Faisalabad and Lahore, which was why they were absconding. The prosecution’s position was that they did not appear after obtaining bail from here, so their bail should be rejected.
The court, agreeing with the arguments, issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the 14.
