ISLAMABAD: The government, with the prime minister’s approval, has appointed Dr Hamid Ateeq Sarwar as a Member of the Strategic Transformation Unit at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on a one-year contract.
According to a notification issued by the FBR on Monday, Dr Hamid, a retired BS-22 officer of the Inland Revenue Service, has assumed charge as Member (Strategic Transformation) at the FBR Headquarters in Islamabad. His appointment took effect on 18-08-2025, following the Establishment Division’s Notification. The rehiring of BS-22 officers post-retirement is permitted with the prime minister’s approval, subject to compliance with prescribed rules and regulations. A high-powered committee evaluates such cases before submitting a summary to the prime minister, seeking exemption from advertising the position. However, Dr. Hamid Ateeq Sarwar has not yest been assigned the additional charge of Member (IR Operations), as cadre postings cannot be granted to contractual employees.
