KOHAT: Seven people were killed and one injured in a firing incident in Kohat on Sunday.
According to reports, unidentified gunmen opened fire in the suburban locality of Regi Shino Khel, leaving seven people dead on the spot and one injured.
Rescue 1122 and police personnel reached the site and shifted the bodies and injured to the District Headquarters Hospital.
The injured person was later referred to a hospital in Peshawar. The assailants managed to flee after the attack.
Initial police investigations revealed that the victims were friends returning from a picnic at Tanda Dam to their village, Mohammadzai, when unknown assailants targeted them.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Samad, son of Noorur Rehman, aged 31, Sajid, son of Azizur Rehman, aged 25, Yousaf, son of Muhammad Asim, aged 18, Ashfaq, son of Syed Alam, aged 18, Mustafa, son of Muhammad Alam, aged 15, Hamza, son of Nasir, aged 16 and Yasir, son of Salahuddin, aged 15.
The injured was identified as Abdul Razaq, son of Noorur Rehman, aged 18. All the victims belonged to Khara Gari Mohammadzai.
