HYDERABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday dismissed speculation about the 27th Amend ment, saying neither the prime minister nor any minister was discussing it.

Speaking to the media while inaugurating uplift projects during his visit to Hyderabad, the PPP chairman also addressed concerns regarding the 26th Amendment, saying that while some individuals may face personal challenges, the historic achievements secured are permanent.

He cited the Charter of Democracy’s demand for reforms in the judicial system, noting that through consensus with all political parties, the PPP opted for a Constitutional Bench instead of a Constitutional Court, ensuring equal provincial representation -- a move he called a major achievement worth celebrating.

Referring to the May 9 violence during the PDM government’s tenure, he condemned the attacks on military installations. He accused a political party of running a campaign against military leadership for personal political gains.

Bilawal stressed that all institutions must work within their constitutional domains, noting that on May 9, politicians and a political party “acted like terrorists and intruded into other institutions”. He reiterated that Pakistan’s progress depends on mutual respect for institutional boundaries.

About the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, Bilawal said changes will eventually come, but the award must be issued to provinces immediately. He urged the federal government and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials to improve tax collection efficiency instead of undermining provincial financial rights.

Bilawal inaugurated Hyderabad’s largest recreational facility, Khan Bahadur Hassan Ali Effendi Peoples Park. He also inaugurated the renovation and upgrading of Hyderabad’s Niaz Stadium, as well as both phases of the Autobahn Road project, before arriving at the stadium to speak with the media. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sharjeel Inam Memon, Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, and Hyderabad Mayor Kashif Shoro were also in attendance at the inauguration ceremony. Spread over 14 acres and designed under the Urban Forest concept, the park features two walking tracks, three open libraries, 5,000 trees and 10,000 plants. During his visit, Bilawal was also briefed on several major development projects, including the completion of Phase I and II of Autobahn Road beautification from Hussainabad Guddu Chowk to Latifabad No. 2. He also met chairmen of all Hyderabad Towns to hear proposals and address urban issues. Furthermore, Bilawal granted ownership rights to women residing in Katchi Abadis (informal settlements). Recalling his participation in PSL matches in Hyderabad, Bilawal said his aim was to send a message that Hyderabad is a city of peace and safe for families.
