LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that all possible resources will be utilised to fulfil the dreams of the youth, describing them as the bright future and a valuable asset of Pakistan.
In her message on the International Youth Day, the chief minister said, “Every youth is the bright star of the nation’s destiny; we are proud of them. Punjab’s unique Honhaar Scholarship Programme is making the dreams of talented students a reality.”
She said, “Thousands of young people are benefiting from modern knowledge and technology through the CM Punjab Laptop Scheme. Under the Khelta Punjab programme, the provincial government is providing a platform for youth in every division to excel in sports, engage in positive activities, and maintain their health. The e-bike scheme is offering dignified transport and independence to thousands of students across Punjab.”
Highlighting employment initiatives, she said, “Advanced market-based IT training is preparing the youth not just to secure jobs, but to create them. Young medical graduates in Maryam Nawaz Clinics are setting a practical example of providing quality medical services to patients.”
She said, “The Assan Karobar Card and Assan Karobar Finance Scheme are empowering young people with financial independence.
Internship programmes across various departments are opening avenues of practical experience for talented youth. Our trust in Punjab’s youth will never fade, and there is no greater joy than seeing them succeed in their chosen fields.”
In a separate message on social media platform X, the chief minister announced the introduction of electric buses in Punjab’s districts at a fare of just Rs20.
“The buses, equipped with air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, and other facilities, have been prepared. A fleet of 100 electric buses is currently being loaded at Yantai Port in China and will depart for Pakistan tonight,” she said.
She said that the buses would be introduced on a priority basis in districts long deprived of public transport, including Mianwali, Okara, Nankana Sahib, Muzaffargarh, Vehari, Pakpattan, and Dera Ghazi Khan.
